For those of you returning, welcome back. For those who are new to the Frogs, welcome to the team. We look forward to many great summers together! Please read our 2015 season welcome letter, below.

Our goal is to promote the philosophy of the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL):

To develop in each and every child a love for the sport, advanced aquatic skill, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship.

Photo of swimmer. The Frogs philosophy is to encourage our swimmers to have lots of fun while doing their best. Personal development is what is most important. For a swimmer, that means improving your times, being courteous and enthusiastic and having a good time. The process of placing teams in a division is designed to make the meets very competitive. We would all like to be division champions, but only one team out of six usually can claim this honor. We believe that, by establishing a healthy environment that encourages the kids to do their best by recognizing their contributions, and by providing fun for the entire family, we will meet our goals.

We are looking forward to a great season this year at the Fairfax Swimming Pool. We will swim in Division Three this summer. The other teams in our Division are Fairfax Station, Little Rocky Run, Mount Vernon Park, Vienna Woods, and Dunn Loring.

Wednesday and Thursday Evenings
6:45 pm – 7:45 pm: Opportunity for any swim team member who was not able to make that day's        morning practice due to camp or an appointment. This opportunity is not meant to replace        morning practice. Registration via Sign-Up Genius is required in advance and is on a first-come,       first-served basis. There are a few instances where Wednesday evening practice will not be available       and another day that week will be chosen. Sign-Up Genius registration is forthcoming in June.

Swim meets require a large volunteer staff. A commitment from the families of the swimmers is essential to make the meet run as smooth and fair as possible. All skills and temperaments are welcome — there are jobs before, during, and after the meets that can put your good talents to use. We request all families to volunteer at meets at least 4 times during the season. Here is a sampling of how you can fulfill your meet commitment:

     Meet Set Up                  Announcer
     Concessions                  Marshall
     Timers                         Relay Take Off Judge
     Clerk of the Course        Starter
     Runner                         Stroke and Turn Official
     Score Table                  Referee
     Data Entry

Ways to get involved and meet your commitment will be forthcoming! Thank you so much for thoughtful consideration now of how you'll be able to help.

If you are interested in volunteering in any official capacity (as underlined above), you will need to attend training hosted by the league. All of the Officials Clinics are listed on the Swim Team Calendar, which is located below, with the location addresses, maps and directions.

We have a new team swim suit this year and next: Nike Epic Lights in color Green. Both jammers AND speedo cut will be available for our boys in this style. Team suits are not mandatory. We are not hosting a registration day this year, so if you would like a suit, they are available for trying on and purchase at Suit Up Water Sports in University Mall. Please tell them you are a member of the Fairfax Frogs for team pricing. Suit Up Water Sports also offers online ordering for in-store pick up or, shipping to your front door.

The team will also offer a number of spirit items for sale — t-shirts, latex and silicone caps, and car magnets. T-shirt orders are due on June 5th. Specifics to come!

The primary means of communicating swim team news is via email and our pool's website.

To access individual events on the Swim Calendar, click on the event to view event details, including practice times, warm-up times for meets, maps and directions, etc. The calendar will be updated throughout the season, so check it often!

We look forward to a great season. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! For those families new to swimming, please join us at our Dessert Social on May 31st, and make sure you request a copy of the Frogs Swimmer & Parents’ Handbook. This handbook explains the many facets of swimming.

Go Frogs!
