Summer 2016 Swim Team fees and registration process are now posted!

For those of you returning to our team, welcome back. For those who are new to the Fairfax Frogs, a warm welcome to our Swim Team! We look forward to many great summers together!

Our primary goal is to promote the philosophy of the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL):

To develop in each and every child a love for the sport, advanced aquatic skill, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship.

We are a growing and diverse summer Swim Team that has something for all our children!

The Fairfax Frogs Swim Team is a summer home to:

We encourage all of our swimmers to have lots of fun while doing their best! Personal development, regardless of your swim level, is what is most important. That could mean improving your times, increasing your conditioning, being courteous, being enthusiastic or just socializing with your peers and having a good time away from the stresses of school. We strive to create a healthy summer environment that encourages all team members to do their best while recognizing each's individual contribution.

Most importantly, we offer summer fun for the WHOLE FAMILY! In addition to enjoyable practices and exciting meets, we have an annual Dessert Social to kick-off each season, Pep Rallies before home swim meets, Donut / Fun Fridays, a Team Breakfast mid-season, Secret Pals, a rockin’ season-ending Team Banquet, and so much more. Hope to see you ALL on deck this summer!

We are looking forward to a great season this summer at the Fairfax Swimming Pool!

We will once again compete in the NVSL's very competitive Division Three for our A meets. The other teams in Division Three are Vienna Woods, Vienna Aquatic, Ravensworth, Lee Graham, and Langley.

We will also offer 6-7 developmental meets amongst ourselves, within our neighborly Woodson B league or against our local friends Fairfax Station. There will be exciting opportunities for all our swimmers, regardless of level, to shine!

There are a few instances where Wednesday evening practice will not be available and another day that week will be chosen. Sign-Up Genius registration is forthcoming in June.

Swim meets require a large volunteer staff. A commitment from the families of the swimmers is essential to make the meet run as smooth and fair as possible. All skills and temperaments are welcome — there are jobs before, during, and after the meets that can put your good talents to use. We request all families to volunteer at meets at least 4 times during the season. Here is a sampling of how you can fulfill your meet commitment:

     Meet Set Up                  Announcer
     Concessions                  Marshall
     Timers                         Relay Take Off Judge
     Clerk of the Course        Starter
     Runner                         Stroke and Turn Official
     Score Table                  Referee
     Data Entry

Ways to get involved and meet your commitment will be forthcoming! However, if you are interested in volunteering in any official capacity (as underlined above), you will need to attend training hosted by the league. All of the Officials Clinics are listed on the Swim Team Calendar, which is located below, with the location addresses, maps and directions.

Thank you so much for thoughtful consideration now of how you'll be able to help this summer.

Fairfax Frog team team suits are not mandatory, but if you’d like to wear a team suit at meets this year you should wear either Nike Epic Lights (in color Court Green) or GLORY by Dolfin Uglies. The GLORY is an affordable, one-year, red, white and blue Frogs team suit in recognition of the exciting Olympic summer! Our team shirts just might have a patriotic theme as well! Stay tuned!

Our team suit vendor, Suit Up in University Mall, has its remaining inventory of Nike Epic Lights available now and will be offering the popular Dolfin Glory suit when it arrives in early-April. Suit Up’s supply of the Nike suit is very limited due to Nike’s disappointing cancellation of its second year of manufacture. Shop early if you’d like the Nike Epic Lights suit!

You may visit Suit Up in University Mall to try on and purchase either team suit. Just mention that you are looking for a Fairfax Frogs team suit. This will allow you to make your purchase at an approximate 25% team discount off of retail price.

Alternatively, (NEW THIS YEAR!!!) you could just visit our Team Suit store on Suit Up’s website to view the two choices and make your purchase: our Team Suit store

Finally, if you choose to purchase a team suit, we encourage you to please consider making your purchase through Suit Up. They have helped us turn our suit orders into a fundraiser this year and the team will receive a small percentage back on every Frog team suit they sell, while still creating significant savings for you compared to going out and buying on your own. It is so easy to place your order on their website or visit them directly!

Our team also offers for sale an annual Team T-shirt and a number of exciting spirit items — shirts, shorts, sweats, caps, visors, water bottles, car magnets, bags and more! 2016 Team T-shirt and Spirit Wear orders are due June 1. Please access our 2016 T-shirt and Spirit Wear sale.

The primary means of communicating swim team news is via email so please make sure you have shared your best email address with Swim Team Reps Michele or Kelly. They can be reached at fairfaxfrogs@gmail.com.

To access individual events on the Swim Calendar, click on the event to view event details, including practice times, warm-up times for meets, maps and directions, etc. The calendar will be updated throughout the season, so check it often!

Please mark your calendar to join us at our season Kick-Off Dessert Social and New Family Meeting on Sunday, May 22nd. You’ll get to meet our great coaching staff, see some old friends or make some new ones!

Looking forward to a great season. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask!
