2011 Swim Team
Welcome to the Fairfax Frogs! Go to Swim Team Calendar
For those of you returning, welcome back. For those who are new to the Frogs, welcome to the team. We look forward to many great summers together! Please read our 2011 season welcome letter (below).
Our goal is to promote the philosophy of the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL):
To develop in each and every child a love for the sport, advanced aquatic skill, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship.
The Frogs philosophy is to encourage our swimmers to have lots of fun while doing their best. Personal development is what is most important. For a swimmer, that means improving your times, being courteous and enthusiastic and having a good time. The process of placing teams in a division is designed to make the meets very competitive. We would all like to be division champions, but only one team out of six usually can claim this honor. We believe that, by establishing a healthy environment that encourages the kids to do their best by recognizing their contributions, and by providing fun for the entire family, we will meet our goals.
WELCOME TO THE 2011 FAIRFAX FROGS SWIM SEASON!
We are looking forward to a great season this year at the Fairfax Pool. We will swim in Division Two this summer. The other teams in our Division are Hunter Mill, Fairfax Station, Highlands Swim, Lee Graham and Little Rocky Run.

VOLUNTEERS AND OFFICIALS CLINICS
Swim meets require a large volunteer staff. A commitment from the families of the swimmers is essential to make the meet run as smooth and fair as possible. All skills and temperaments are welcome – there are jobs before, during and after the meets. We request all families to volunteer at meets at least 4 times during the season.
If you are interested in any official capacity, all of the Officials Clinics are on the Swim Team Calendar, which is below, with pool addresses, maps and directions.
If you have any questions regarding the volunteer jobs or official positions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Our team suit this year is the Speedo Laser Blast. Team suits are not mandatory. If you would like a suit, they are available for purchase on registration day or at Suit Up in University Mall.
The team also offers a number of spirit items for sale, including T-shirts ($15), latex and silicone caps ($6 and $15), car magnets ($6) and water bottles ($4). T-shirt orders are due on June 10.
TEAM SPONSORS
We are always looking for businesses to sponsor our team. Please let us know of any vendors that may be interested in sponsoring us.
COMMUNICATION
The primary means of communicating swim team news is via email. With more than 50 families on the team, this is the most efficient way to get the news out.
To access individual events on the Swim Calendar, click on the event to view event details, including practice times, warm-up times for meets, maps and directions, etc. The calendar will be updated throughout the season – so check it often!
We look forward to a great season. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! For those families new to swimming, please make sure you request a copy of the Frogs Swimmer & Parents’ Handbook. This handbook explains the many facets of swimming.
