2011 Tadpoles
The Tadpole program is for young swimmers (ages 4 to 7) who are working toward being on the swim team. We welcome younger brothers and sisters of current frog swimmers, as well as those new to the swim team experience. Our 12 and older swimmers volunteer to coach and are trained to teach Tadpoles developmental stroke and kicking skills.
The Tadpole program does not replace swim lessons and is not a water readiness class. Your young swimmer is ready for the tadpole program if he/she meets the following criteria:
1. Must be between the ages of 4 and 7.
2. Must be willing to leave their parent or guardian to join the group in the pool independently.
It is very important that the tadpoles are willing to transition easily.
3. Must be comfortable in the water and able to fully immerse their face, as well as their body, underwater.
4. Must be able to put their face in the water and kick, unassisted, to an instructor.
5. Must wear swim goggles.
If your child cannot do all of these tasks, or is a brand-new swimmer, please wait until next season for Tadpoles and sign up for the swim lessons offered through the pool. This will ensure that all of our young swimmers have a safe and happy swim season.
!!IMPORTANT!! All Tadpole participants must be pre-registered. Walk-ons will not be accommodated.
The program can accommodate 20 children per half hour session. If we exceed 20 participants, there will be two Tadpole sessions. The maximum number of children we can accommodate is 40. The start time of one session will be 9 a.m. The start time of two sessions will be 8:35 a.m. and 9:10 a.m.
The Tadpole program starts on Monday, June 27, and continues every Monday through Friday until Friday, July 22. The Tadpoles will not meet on July 4 or July 20.
On the first day, the tadpoles will be assessed to determine their readiness for the program. Please have the children wear bathing suits and bring their goggles. If it is determined that your child is not ready for the program, we will fully refund the registration fee.
The cost for the tadpole program is $75 per child. This fee is separate from your family swim team registration. The registration form for tadpoles is the same as the swim/dive form. To join Tadpoles, your family must hold a stockholding membership with the pool.
